Title: My Life Next Door
Author: Huntley Fitzpatrick
Genre: Young Adult (Romance)
Rating: 5/5
Description: The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase's family embraces Samantha - even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha's world. She's suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself? A transporting debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another.
Review: First of all, OMG THIS WAS SO CUTE AND WONDERFUL AND AMAZING. I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. The chemistry between Samantha and Jace is just OVNJRNRIVEJWNJJ (read EXPLOSIVE). I couldn't put this down once I started it. It was no typical young adult book. Now, I love me so YA, but MLND almost leans into NA. It just dips, just a little, but stays within the YA range. It will shock you and please you and amaze you. The characters are so wonderfully unique and interesting. I love weird families and romance. This was just perfect. I was wrapped in its atmosphere of young love and hard choices, saturated in the sadness of the outcomes of certain choices we make. I highly recommend this! Beautiful, tender, and crushing, this book with both steal your heart and render you speechless.
